General Orders, No. 203 (U.S. War Department) (May 27, 1864)

On May 27, 1864, the U.S. War Department issued General Orders, No. 203 ordering all officers in the Military Division of West Mississippi to obey the orders of Major General Canby.

War Department, Adjutant General's Office
Washington, May 27, 1864

By direction of the President of the United States, the Department of Missouri is assigned to the Military Division of West Mississippi, and all officers in that Department will obey the orders of Major General Canby, U. S. Volunteers.
